Virginia Philip and her band of four sommeliers, which includes two masters, offer their expertise in wine selections and stellar food and wine pairings, to complement Chef Simms’ cuisine.
One of only a handful of female sommeliers in the country, Virginia is also one of 16 women in the world to become a master sommelier. Virginia presides over The Breakers collection, now numbering 28,000 bottles, and maintains the resort’s prized 1,600-selection list, which has won the Wine Spectator’s Grand Award since 1981.
Virginia’s mission has been to develop cutting edge and distinctive wine programs at The Breakers and wine connoisseurs will be interested to learn that, along with members of The Breakers food and beverage team, she travels to Domain Du Tariquet winery in France annually to custom blend our house wine.
