Now in its 13th year, this spectacular culinary evening will leave you satisfied and happy – with both a full stomach and a full heart.

Quantum House joins forces with the American Culinary Foundation Palm Beach County Chefs Association to present the 13th Annual Culinary Creations. A foodie dream-come-true, the event brings together more than 20 of the finest hotel, restaurant and country club chefs in South Florida.

A selection delicious gourmet dishes served at last year’s Culinary Creations dinner.

The Breakers’ Executive Chef of Banquets Jeff Simms (below, center) is the chairman of the event, which begins with a champagne reception with unique and delectable Hors d’ Oeuvres, followed by a sensational four-course dinner, served round robin style.

The unique evening is unlike any other food and wine event in Palm Beach County. The best part: 100 percent of proceeds from the evening go to benefit Quantum House and Palm Beach County Chefs Association, ACF Foundation Fund.

Cinco de Mayo may celebrate the Mexican victory over France in 1862, but at The Breakers’ we feel it’s important to drink to both sides of the Battle of Puebla on this fifth day of May. But we won’t just raise any glass – we’ll raise a Cointreaurita!

Created by The Breakers’ master sommelier Juan Gomez – originally from Mexico City – and Richard Lambert, of Rémy Cointreau – originally from Angers, France – the Cointreaurita is the perfect blend of Mexican independence with a French influence. Real Wedding: Joelle & Mark

Living in Miami, Mark and Joelle knew they wanted to get married somewhere in South Florida. Choosing The Breakers for their special day – could have been the easiest decisions the two had to make!

“The Breakers was by far our favorite venue,” says the bride. “We immediately fell in love with the regal feel and gorgeous ballrooms and instantly knew The Breakers was the perfect place for our wedding!

“As far as favorite memories or moments, we have a few. One moment a little non-traditional – from the morning of our wedding,” says Joelle. “Mark and I woke up early and shared coffee and muffin in the courtyard outside of The Breakers News and Gourmet. Although traditionally the bride and groom don’t see each other before the wedding, we really enjoyed sharing a calm and quiet moment together before all of the preparations and celebrations for our big day began.”

“My favorite moment was walking down the aisle. I took a few steps into The Circle ballroom and paused for a moment before I began walking down the aisle,” says Joelle. “Although we were in a large ballroom, all of the candles, decor, and the ethereal look of the chuppah created such a romantic and intimate setting that it felt like Mark and I were the only two people in the room.”

“Making our entrance as Mr. and Mrs. Simms into the ballroom was so exciting,” Joelle says. “We chose to attend our cocktail hour, so we hadn’t seen the ballroom and all of the gorgeous decor until we made our entrance. The room was absolutely stunning and it was so amazing seeing all of our friends and family so happy and excited to celebrate our marriage.”

Thirsty Thursday: Keep The Party Going

Your love won’t fizzle, so why should your dancing? Add the Cucumber Gin Fizz to your after hours party menu and this cocktail will keep you and your guests celebrating all night long!

Order the Cucumber Gin Fizz next time you enjoy Happy Hour at Echo Palm Beach, or bring Happy Hour home…

What you’ll need:
• 2 oz. Hendricks Gin
• 1/2 oz. St. Germain Elderflower
• 3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
• 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
• 1 Cucumber Wheel (1″ thick and skinned)
• Top with Soda Water

How to:
• Muddle cucumber in the bottom of a mixing tin
• Add ice and remaining ingredients except soda water
• Shake and strain over ice in a collins glass and top with soda
• Garnish with three cucumber spears in a fan

Besides a weekend full of incredible memories – and that fabulous thank you speech you and your hubby gave – when your guests leave your wedding, you want them to take home something extra special.

Our favorite favors are the ones that offer something personal – a goodie that truly represents the bride and groom. Here’s a look at a few of our recent fab favors…

Matching the wedding’s rustic décor, this favor included a wood spork for eating your wedding cake on the go!

This jar of honey was super sweet and special – it came directly from the bride’s parents’ farm!

Edible favors are always a guest favorite – especially cupcakes and cookies!

We’ve had couples ship in from their favorite bakery, or work directly with our Cake Shop to create a delicious treat using their favorite flavors and colors.

Add some pretty packaging and a personal message, and your sweet treat is ready to go!

Real Wedding: Hannah & Ben

As a Florida native, Hannah grew up loving The Breakers – especially since her parents were married at the hotel 30 years ago! And once her groom-to-be Ben saw the property, the two knew there was no other place they rather be wed.

The couple said their “I Dos” in the Gold Room and celebrated the night in The Circle – complete with Hannah’s “shabby chic” Southern-Floridian inspired décor, and a group of beautiful bridesmaids all dressed in pink – with cowboy boots!

“The weekend went so perfectly! Everything was seamless,” Hannah says. “The entire Breaker’s crew and our planner Sara Renee’s crew handled everything with such ease. Nothing went wrong! It was a dream.”

“Our favorite moment was when we saw each other for the first time! It was the first time our nerves finally settled…” Hannah says. “We were so anxious and excited to see each other and once we finally did, we could breathe again! It was so magical.”

Go Green: Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day this Sunday, we wanted to share some of our favorite green wedding goodies…

On April 22, The Green Team at The Breakers urges it’s 1,800 employees to commit an “Act of Green.” By simply committing to do one thing “green” to celebrate our Earth Day and environmental sustainability, we can collectively make a great beneficial impact on our Earth.

What will you do to celebrate?

Some suggestions from The Breakers’ Green Team:
• Eat more local food
• Bike to work
• Get a home energy audit and take the recommended actions to reduce your energy consumption
• Eliminate or reduce the use of toxic cleaning products and/or pesticides in your home and yard
• Plant a garden (in the ground or use pots!)
• Volunteer for an environmental cause (beach clean up, recycling effort, etc.)
• Call or write your legislature to support an environmental initiative that is important to you!
