Happy Hanukkah!

As the eight days of the Jewish holiday begin tonight at sundown, The Breakers’ team would like to wish all of our friends a very Happy Hanukkah!

The beautiful menorah on display in The Breakers’ Main Lobby will be lit tonight!

In honor of the holiday, we’d love to share some stunning chuppahs that have been used during ceremonies at The Breakers this year – all beautifully decorated by The Design Studio at The Breakers.

The chuppah, which serves as a canopy or covering over the heads of the bride and groom in a Jewish wedding, symbolizes the couple’s union and the home they will build together.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas…

It might not snow in Palm Beach, but The Breakers’ Design Studio can certainly turn the
resort into a winter wonderland.

The hotel sparkles with more than 160,000 Christmas lights and 9,500 feet of ribbon.

There are three 18-foot trees – two in the Main Lobby, and one (above right) in the Tapestry Bar – with 5,000 ornaments and 25,000 gold, white and frosted lights.

Three-foot-tall nutcrackers protect the passageway to The Shops at The Breakers and the entrance to The Circle Ballroom.

Party Themes: Tradition With A Twist

Last October The Breakers hosted a special three-day event for wedding industry professionals called engage!10. The luxury wedding business summit attracted the attendance of wedding magazine editors, top celebrity planners, industry photographers and an array of wedding bloggers.

The summit culminated with a magnificent formal dinner. After three days of innovation and creativity, The Breakers Wedding and Special Events team were challenged to create something truly unique and special for the evening.

The inspiration for the dinner was creating a Louis XIV dinner with a modern twist, calling it “Louis Pop.” The goal of the evening was to inspire the attendees with over-the-top elements, elegant decor and an overall fun experience.

Enjoy a look back at this spectacular evening and how to recreate the Louis Pop theme in just six steps…

It took an entire team effort to create this fabulous party – starting with the Director of Food and Beverage for Catering and Banquet Operations Joan Bever and her team of catering managers, to Executive Chef Jeff Simms and his team for the sensational culinary menu, and Director of Event Services Joy Cudahy and her team for the stunning design elements.

The Doors To The Soul…

If you’ve visited The Breakers, you know the Palm Beach resort has some absolutely stunning architecture. One of our team’s favorite photo spots is the two sets of grand doors.

The iron gates have also been a favored photo spot among our wedding photographers for years. Our team is always enamored by the different ways our brides have been photographed at these doors, as every photographer uses them in their own unique, beautiful way.

Inspired by outdoor destination weddings, more couples are ditching the candles and opting for unity sand during their ceremonies.

Pop The Bubbly!

This is one bottle of bubbly you won’t be drinking – champagne bubbles! Forget the rice and the birdseed, nothing says ‘happy wedding’ better than bubbles from mini champagne bottles.

After their big kiss, a recent Breakers’ bride and groom walked down the aisle through tons of bubbles.

Pop these after the bride and groom say “I Do!” for a – real – bubbly treat.

Add Some Fun To Your Destination Wedding Weekend

When you host a destination wedding, there’s more to your weekend than the wedding.

Last June, Breakers’ bride and groom Amy and Tripp did something extremely unique. The destination wedding couple held a private tennis tournament, called the Palm Beach Wood Racquet Invitational, the morning of their wedding.

From left: Tripp and Amy donned 1970’s outfits for their Palm Beach Wood Racquet Invitational and later that day walked down the aisle overlooking the water atop The Breakers’ Ocean Terrace.

Tripp explains the couple’s vision best: “We wanted to host a non-traditional co-ed sporting event to accompany our wedding weekend at The Breakers. As a result, we were inspired to do something sporting, yet fun and comedic for all the guests.”

Thirty of the couple’s 54 wedding guests participated, all donning 1970’s era-appropriate gear with wooden racquets and white tennis balls.

After the tournament, Tripp and Amy awarded the top trophy to winners Chris and Lindsay – who also happened to be college tennis champs. The couple also handed out custom trophies for ‘Best Shorts’ and ‘The Bjorn Borg Award for Best Headband.’

The tournament, which was held at The Breakers’ Har-Tru tennis courts, even attracted the attention of the Washington Post. (Click here to read their review of the amazing wedding weekend at The Breakers.)
